EmploymentStaffing"I started working with people with disabilities when I was 16 years old, and I have never believed that any other profession could be more challenging or more fulfilling." The above statement by HIL's President reflects the basic company philosophy. It is this same commitment, dedication and sense of fulfillment that we hope to foster in each employee.
TrainingThe staff providing direct care supports to the people we serve make all the difference in the person's quality of life. Employees receive coaching, modeling, support, oversight and backup from HIL's supervisory staff. Most of the supervisory, management, and other administrative staff members employed by HIL were previously direct care employees, so they have a good understanding of the needs of the people we serve, as well as the staff charged with caring for them. HIL provides formal and on-the-job orientation training for all new employees and ongoing training for all employees. Training includes topics such as resident rights, issues concerning specific areas of disabilities of the people we serve, administration of medications, dietary needs, first aid, fire safety, standard precautions, how to prepare and carry out Individual Service Plans, how to respectfully care for the personal needs of people who are disabled, and other trainings and information relating to how to effectively and successfully support the people in our care. CompensationWisconsin has a very tight labor market. HIL's salary and benefits are competitive with others in the field. Benefits include health, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, unemployment insurance, sick/personal leave, paid holidays, vacation and a 401K retirement plan. HIL allows sick leave to be used for personal leave in order to make it easier for people who have family responsibilities. Vacations are generous. HIL is an ESOP company, so each employee has not only a responsibility to provide the best in care, but also gets the benefit of being a partial owner. HIL looks first to its own staff when promotional opportunities occur. This is an added incentive for staff to grow and learn. Employment Opportunites
